Architecture isn’t just what we walk past—it’s what we live through. During a recent visit to a large North American city, it was striking how sealed off the landscape is. Concrete everywhere, of course, skyscrapers defining the city center. Older buildings from the 1970s and 1980s with lots of glass and concrete in between.
